We recently broke ground on the Mustang Park Aquatic Center-an exciting new space coming to Irving that’s all about fun, fitness, and bringing people together. Once complete, the 127,000-square-foot facility will feature an indoor aquatic center, a large fitness and athletics area, and Active Senior Adult Center, dedicated program rooms, gathering spaces, and more. Designed with all ages in mind, it’s a place where the community can connect, stay active, and create lasting memories. We can’t wait to see it come to life!

The Ennis Public Library is officially reopened! We are proud to partner with the City of Ennis on this exciting renovation and honored to deliver a refreshed, welcoming space for the community and the incredible library staff. Here’s to a new chapter for a beloved local treasure!

Things are moving fast at Baylor Elementary in Crowley! We are in the final stages of construction, an this incredible new campus is almost ready to open its doors. Mark your calendars-grand opening is set for August 1st!

The beam signing for the new 25,000 SF Aledo City Hall marked a major step forward in its construction! This future hub for the community will feature Council Chambers, a Library, and dedicated spaces for Public Safety & Public Works. More than just a milestone, the event symbolizes the teamwork and commitment shaping Aledo’s future. We are proud to be a part of this project and excited to see it come to life!

We are honored to announce that the City of Fort Worth Forest park Aquatics Center renovation has won the TEXO Distinguished Building Award for the Specialty Construction Category! this project which involved demolition and replacement of Fort Worth’s oldest pool-originally opened in 1922-now boasts a state of the art facility, including a 492,000 gallon swimming pool, a 60,000 gallon leisure pool, and a new bath & pump house. Located next to the Fort Worth Zoo, and TCU, this updated center preserves the legacy of the original design while providing modern amenities for the community to enjoy.

This accomplishment is a testament to the dedication and diligence of our amazing team. Congratulations to our partners and all involved in this incredible project!

We are thrilled to announce that our Arlington Fire Station No.1 project won the TEXO Distinguished Building Award for the Building 3 ($5-10M) category! This cutting-edge 17,667 SF facility replaced the original 1954 station and is equipped with modern amenities like five drive-through bays, dedicated training areas, k-9 units, and private dorm rooms to support our fire personnel. Strategically located for optimal response times, this new station is a testament to Arlington’s commitment to safety and community service.

This achievement reflects the hard work, dedication, and innovation of our incredible team. Congratulations to everyone who contributed to bringing this project to life!

We are thrilled to kick off the construction of future Paradise High School, located on 50 acres along School House Road. This campus will feature state of the art classrooms, including a dedicated CTE wing to empower the next generation of leaders. With 348 parking spots (250 for students), a campus 10,000 SF larger than the current one, and plenty of room to grow, we are proud to be part of creating a space that will serve the community for years to come. This project will help ease population growth and provide a modern environment for learning.

This ceremony also holds a special place in our hearts as we save an honorary shovel for Dr. Heath Smith, the late Paradise ISD School Board VP, whose vision and dedication to the community will never be forgotten.

We are proud to be a part of this project and cannot wait to see this facility come to life!

We are breaking ground on the future of Irving’s Senter Park, a new indoor aquatic facility designed for recreation, fitness, and community connection. The modern building will feature a state of the art natatorium with a leisure pool, wading pool with play features, lazy river, and a water slide that extends in and out of the building. Two party rooms will open into the pool area, creating a perfect place for celebrations. The facility will also include offices, a conference room, a lobby, a lounge, a breakroom for staff, locker rooms, and family restrooms. Stay tuned as we bring this exciting vision to life!

Our third bike drop off was to the City of Wilmer! We are incredibly proud of what we have accomplished together and grateful to partner with clients who share our passion for giving back. Thank you, Wilmer, for your support-we look forward to making more meaningful impacts together!

In December, we completed our first bike drop-off to the City of Midlothian, with bikes assembled by the SFI team during our annual bike building workshop. We are proud to continue our partnership with the City of Midlothian, most recently collaborating on the new Midlothian City Hall & Library. Thank you to the City of Midlothian for your ongoing support and for helping us make a meaningful impact on the community.

The Midlothian City Hall & Library is officially open! This 52,700 SF facility in downtown features a public library, council chambers, city offices, and a stunning 1,000 SF skylight. Located in the heart of Midlothian, the site includes an outdoor learning space and playground on the South library side. We are proud to see this project serve as a central point for Midlothian’s growth!

We are proud to announce  the grand opening of the new Mansfield Police Station. This state of the art facility spans 54,936 SF and includes a jail with a capacity of 26, a multipurpose room, locker rooms, and a briefing room. We are excited to have helped bring this facility to life, which will better serve and protect the Mansfield community. Thank you to all who contributed to this beautiful building!

We are thrilled to announce the grand opening of the newly upgraded Sachse Animal Shelter! This 5,800 SF expansion is a huge step forward in providing a better future for the animals of Sachse. The facility now features 27 spacious dog kennels, 6 adoptable cat cages, a full-sized cat condo, and 20 feral cat cages. Additional amenities including a dog tub/shower, isolation kennels, a laboratory/exam room, and an outdoor play area with artificial turf  and a full sized canopy, where the dogs can enjoy plenty of space to run and play. Our team has the pleasure of touring the new building and seeing firsthand how the upgraded shelter will improve the lives of the animals it serves.

The annual AIA BBQ Cook Off and Clay Shoot was an incredible experience once again! This is an event we look forward to every year, and it never disappoints! We were so excited and thankful to have Wildstone Construction and Vaden’s Acoustics cooking alongside us. Congratulations to the SFI BBQ team for taking first place overall and bring home the green egg! Thank you to our friends at AIA Fort Worth and Acme Brick for making this event possible!

The Midlothian Police Command Staff came together at our Midlothian Public Safety & Courts Facility project to share their favorite scriptures, writing them on the studs in their offices and other key spaces. It’s a powerful reminder of faith and unity as they serve their community!

What a fantastic evening at the groundbreaking and beam signing for Aubrey ISD Middle School #2!  A highlight of the night was the surprise name reveal honoring Evalois Owens, who was shocked and deeply grateful. Cheers to bright new beginnings for the Aubrey community!

The Can-Do Crew had a fabulous morning spending time with colleagues, clients, and industry partners at the annual SFI Christmas Open House. The Can-Do Crew had a fantastic time at the annual SFI Bike Building workshop! This year, we built 30 bikes that will be donated to community partners for children in need. While this tradition is always a fun team building exercise, it makes it even more special knowing that these bikes are making a difference in children’s lives during the holiday season.

We had a fantastic time celebrating with our client the City of Sachse at their recent Beam Signing Ceremony for the city’s new Animal Shelter! City staff, council members, and the project team were able to leave their permanent mark on the building to celebrate this milestone and the progress on their new facility.

Steele & Freeman had a great time celebrating with our client the City of Arlington, TX – City Hall at the dedication ceremony for their new Fire Station No. 1. The new 17,600 SF facility replaces the original 1954 building and will provide better living and working spaces for the City of Arlington’s firefighters and K9s. Congratulations to the City of Arlington on the new fire station and a World Series Championship!!

After months of hard work and dedication from every team member, we were excited to celebrate the Grand Opening of the Union Gospel Mission Community Outreach Center earlier this month! The new 27,260 facility will help individuals transition out of poverty to create a pathway to economic mobility by providing them with job training and life skills necessary to secure livable-wage employment and a greater quality of life. We are proud to partner with Union Gospel Mission of Tarrant County and look forward to seeing the impact of their work through this facility as they continue to serve our community.

We had a great time celebrating our client the City of Arlington, on the groundbreaking of their Fire Station No. 1 project! We are proud to announce that our Crowley ISD Bill R. Johnson CTE Center project has won its second construction award, the state-level Outstanding Construction Award from the AGC – Texas Building Branch for the Educational Facilities 3 (Over $30M) category! We were eligible to compete for this title after winning first place in the TEXO, Distinguished Building Awards. Congratulations to our partners Crowley ISD, VLK Architects and all of our subcontractors for their hard work on this project!

We are delighted to announce we have been awarded a new project to construct the City of Granbury’s new police department facility. This will be our first project with the city and our second project with architecture firm PGAL.

Please help us welcome Project Manager Josh and his family to the Can-Do Crew! Josh is a native of Louisiana and studied construction management at Louisiana State University. He brings years of experience on K-12 and municipal projects, making him a great fit for our project load.
